Born in East Los Angeles, California, I now reside in Northern California in the beautiful town of Scotts Valley with my girlfriend Monica, my teenage daughter, Haley, and our baby girl, Madeline. We also have a dog named Coco, and cat named Gabana.
I have been in several leadership positions and President and founder of many organizations throughout the years and am the President and founder of my companies, “Let’s Talk Real Estate!” and Home Resolution & Credit Services, Inc. I have also been licensed by the California Department of Real Estate since 1986 and was an appointed state director for the California Association of REALTORS, being elected Vice-Chair for 2006.
I love real estate, it is in my blood. I have seen it all, the good, the bad and the ugly. I really enjoy reading about it, learning everyday and also teaching and sharing with others what I have learned and continue to learn everyday. I speak to real estate practitioners and consumers daily via workshops and my TV & Radio shows.
I also enjoy the media, it has been good to me as I feel I have been good to it. I have always given the media the truth, exactly as it is and not how people want me to say it. It is what it is. People are smarter then given credit for and do not appreciate being given information that they know is not true. Just tell it like it is and you will have more respect. You may not always be liked by everyone, but they will respect you.
I am a lucky man. I have done some amazing things in life which many of them was a lifelong dream. Coming from East Los Angeles all I could do was dream because that is all there was. I have been to Africa, I have been on television and radio for years and the best part of it all is raising my beautiful daughter on my own for half her life. Yes, she is a teenager and knows it all according to her. Yes, she does not like hanging out with her dad like she once did because I am not “cool” enough, but I love her so very much as only a parent can relate to.
More than anything, I feel like in many ways I am living a dream and I never want to wake up!
I think a lot comes from just going out and doing things. Many people plan and plan and plan while others just do it. Don’t get me wrong, you need a plan, but you also need action.
I am not afraid to fail. Failure is part of success, and success is part of failure. If you never fail in life, you never tried hard enough to succeed. At some point in life you have to just go for it and do what you can to make your dreams come true because you will realize that nobody is more responsible for your success and happiness then you. Nobody owes you anything and you have to ask for something that you want because if you don’t, you might not get it. Even if you feel that you deserve it, it does not mean you will get it. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
There are 2 sayings that I like to tell people all the time, they are:
“You will never hit a home run by bunting the ball.” See, if you do not try and swing for the fences you will not hit a home run. Swing hard, you may not always get a home run, but you may get a double or triple.
“You will never find front row parking by looking for parking two blocks away.” My girlfriend always gives me a hard time because she says that I always find front row parking at the movies, a restaurant or the mall. But I tell her that I look for parking in the front row and you would be amazed at how much parking there is right up front! So don’t be afraid to succeed, it is there right there for you.
I am not saying I am successful because I do not see myself in that way. Not even close! There are many areas in my life that need improvement but I strive everyday to invent and reinvent myself to a better “me”. I fall down all the time but all it does is teach me to pick myself up faster each time. It teaches me what NOT to do the next time around.
Like I said, I am a work in progress, as is this web site….
